A Multi-Agent Legal Argument Generator

چکیده
One of the most SigniJicant series of experiments in AI and Law is the investigation of case based reasoning carried out in the HYPO, CABERET and CATO projects. It is important to understand what has been achieved in these experiments, and this requires that the techniques be applied to a variery of domains. The techniques are not, however, straightforward to appb. In order to provide an experimental environment for investigating the techniques further, we have re-implemented the central argument generation process as a set of agents written in JAVA using IBM's Aglet agent building framework. By using this environment it will be possible to explore the general applicability of the techniques. In this paper we give a summary of an algorithmic description of argument buiIding in HYPO and CATO. and describe our implementation of the algorithm.

Applying Labelled Deductive Systems and Multi-Agent Systems to Source-Based Argumentation
In this paper, it is shown how labelled deductive systems and multi-agent systems can be used to evaluate argumentation that is source-based and depends on a credibility function. When agents engage in argumentation in dialogues, each agent has a credibility function that can be adjusted upwards or downwards by certain types of arguments brought forward by the other agent in the dialogue. One t...
متن کاملDistributed multi-agent Load Frequency Control for a Large-scale Power System Optimized by Grey Wolf Optimizer
This paper aims to design an optimal distributed multi-agent controller for load frequency control and optimal power flow purposes. The controller parameters are optimized using Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. The designed optimal distributed controller is employed for load frequency control in the IEEE 30-bus test system with six generators. The controller of each generator is consider...
متن کاملLaw and logic: A review from an argumentation perspective
This article reviews legal applications of logic, with a particularly marked concern for logical models of legal argument. We argue that the law is a rich test bed and important application field for logic-based AI research. First applications of logic to the representation of legal regulations are reviewed, where the main emphasis is on representation and where the legal conclusions follow fro...
متن کاملArgumentation Machines: New Frontiers in Argumentation and Computation edited by Chris ReedTimothy J. Norman
Argumentation may be defined as the study of different aspects of (human) interactions whose objective is to reach a conclusion about the truth of a proposition or the adoption of a course of action. The aspects in question include the argu-mentation interaction, which is typically a dialogue; the construction and presentation of arguments for or against a proposition; the interpretation of arg...
متن کاملA neural cognitive model of argumentation with application to legal inference and decision making
Formal models of argumentation have been investigated in several areas, from multi-agent systems and artificial intelligence (AI) to decision making, philosophy and law. In artificial intelligence, logic-based models have been the standard for the representation of argumentative reasoning. More recently, the standard logicbased models have been shown equivalent to standard connectionist models....
